Don't let yourself stay stagnant. Always seek out learning, career growth, and networking opportunities. Go for that promotion or new role, even if you think the chance may be low. Someone out there will see your work ethic, skills, and everything that you bring to the table. And, don't underestimate the importance of the basics. No matter what new technology arises, the basics will always stay the same.

Valuable skill she regularly uses

Communication about my work with those who may not understand it at my level of expertise (i.e. higher executives, product management people, etc.). You kind of naturally pick up these skills in our liberal arts setting - taking classes outside of your major, etc.
