Ask questions: if you don't understand a problem, it'll be very hard to solve it. Everyone started as a beginner, so don't be afraid of looking inexperienced! If something doesn't make sense to you, there's a chance it simply doesn't make sense, and you have a chance to make it better; the best way to grow is to stay curious and challenge assumptions.
A valuable skill
A lot of college curriculums lack chances to learn Git (or more generally version control), a tool I use on a daily basis as a software engineer! I got experience with Git through doing projects on my own or going to hackathons.
